Cleopatra the Munny

So I finally finished my Munny, and with more than 4 days to spare. Woohoo! I’m moderately pleased with it, except that poor Egyptian Munny looks like a frog. I guess wide-set eyes on a round head look better in drawings rather than sculpture. ;)

Basically, I thought that the little poop accessories would make good pyramids, and so I have Cleopatra’s cat slaves pooping the pyramids into existence.I was terrified to start painting it, because I didn’t want it to look like poop. (Except the poop, of course!) But I found these Airbrush paints at the art store, and they worked marvelously! No brush strokes ended up showing and the the colors came out super glossy. All in all, it was less stressful than I had expected.

For the painting, I tried staining the paper with tea to make it look like old papyrus. This worked awesomely, but since I colored it all in it’s hard to see the tea and it just made the colors a bit drabber than normal. You live, you learn, I suppose! I haven’t yet scanned it so for now here is a picture of it in its little frame. I’ll take photos of the show once all the Munnys are set up, too. Hooray!

This looks fantastic! I can’t wait for the Munny show, although I know it’ll just make me feel sad that I didn’t do one. Oh, well.

I love the accompanying illustration, too. Especially the cat mummies. And the fact that you signed your name in hieroglyphics.

Thanks! Lol, there were so many different “hieroglyphics alphabets” that I’m 99% sure mine are wrong. But if you happen to find the same one I used you’ll be able to read what it says on the litter box and her bum.

oooh I love both of these! I wish I could do something like that (top) and have the patience haha.

The painting so far is one of my favorites now! she has such a pretty face :)

one thing I want to reccomend though is:

when messing with saturations in scans, try to make the blushy parts a little less reddish. I think it distracts from the flesh a little too much and I think it could look better if it was a little lighter. But thats just me

Thanks steph! Yes, the munny was very trying. I don’t think I am going to be a vinyl toy artist any time soon. Hehe.

I am not happy with her blush in this image either. My problem with it is that it ends too abruptly, so it’s like… red red red red then flesh tone with no in-between. My red is extremely staining though so all I can do is hope for better luck next time ;)
